However, affidavits and official records generally performed different evidential functions.
Official records could often confirm that a technical event occurred. Why documents did not settle causation
Despite their influence, the released records never resolved the central question: whether UFOs actually interfered with nuclear weapons systems.
One reason is that the evidence types involved operate under different standards. A missile maintenance report may document a system failure with high confidence.
